Giinagay, Welcome from Valla Community Preschool!

A space to grow and connect with family, community, culture and place.

Connected to our community.

Joining our not-for-profit Preschool means joining a vibrant community. Through local outings, our gaagal guul (beach preschool) and wawaa guul (bush school). bindarray guul (river school), family input, and community initiatives our children get to know local people and places. This empowers them with a deep sense of safety, belonging, and mattering.

Connected to culture and place.

Learning to respect and protect our world and each other is an important part of growing up. We start these lifelong practices with the children by exploring their connection to the world around them. We take community walks, grow bush tucker in the garden and learn how to look after Country. This also includes learning about Gumbaynggirr culture, knowledge and language.

Connected to passionate teachers.

We practice the evidence-based Circle of Security and Secure Beginnings approaches to early learning. This means providing a secure base and meeting your child’s genuine relationship needs to create a calm learning environment. We build open and trusting relationships with children and families, so they feel safe to learn, take risks and explore.

Connected to family.

Families are an important part of Valla Preschool and this community spirit is why we see past students returning with their children. We know everyone has something to offer and there lots of ways you can join in on your child’s learning journey. They love it when you get involved and so do we!

“I grew up in Valla and I also went to preschool here when I was growing up! … It has been such a beautiful nurturing second home for Cooper, Orson & Poppy.”

— Elle (Committee President and parent).

A preschool to spark curiosity, exploration and discovery.
